At Saskatchewan Express, we offer classes in a wide variety of dance styles and for all levels! Unsure of what to take, not to worry, we can help; Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Acro, CDTA Exam classes. From beginner to advanced, regardless of age, we have a class that is just right for you!

REGISTER

Online registration is our preferred method,  however you also have the option of registering in person. Our regular office hours are from Monday - Friday from 10:00 - 6:00 and our Studio hours are from 5:30 - 9:00 Monday - Thursday.

To register online, simply review the list of available classes through the “Our Classes” drop down menu (you can also download a copy of all class offerings/times here), choose the one you are interested in and fill out the required information. Upon completion, you will have the option of either adding additional classes and/or students or submitting your registration form. If you register for a class in error simply message us and we can make any corrections you need.

BALLET

All classes are once a week and focus on ballet technique and terminology. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to May, class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. These classes are involved in pictures and the year-end recital.

REGISTER

CONTEMPORARY

dsc_0037All classes are once a week.  Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance. It emerged in the 1950’s as a dance form that combines modern dance elements with those of classical ballet. Often, contemporary utilizes floor work and is performed in bare foot. Contemporary dance strives to connect the mind and body through fluid dance movement. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. Competitive Classes will attend three competitions in the spring season. All classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital. You must be registered in a ballet and lyrical class to be placed in this class.

HIP HOP

All classes are once a week ranging from 45 minutes to 1 hour in length. These classes focus on Hip Hop dsc_0219technique and terminology with introduction to break dancing, popping and locking. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to May, class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. Competitive Classes will attend three competitions in the spring season. All classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital.

  • White, indoor runners
  • Dance pants or sweat pants – no jeans or skirts

All classes are once a week and range in length of 45 mins to 1.5 hours in length. These classes focus on basic jazz technique and terminology. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to May, class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. Competitive Classes will attend three competitions in the spring season. All classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital.

  • Black Slip-on Jazz Oxford Shoes (competition students may need black and beige dependent on costume)
  • Fitted dance clothes

From September to December classes work on Open House material to be presented to parents at the studio in December.  From January to May class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. These classes are involved in pictures and the year-end recital.

LYRICAL

All classes are once a week and 1 hour to 1.5 hours in length. These classes focus on a lyrical quality with an emphasis on basic Ballet technique and performance. From September to December recital classes work on Open House material to be presented to parents at the Studio theatre in December.  You must have at least one year of ballet and be registered in a ballet class to be placed in this class. Competitive Classes will attend three competitions during the spring season. Dancers must be available for all dates.These classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital.

ATTIRE

  • Students may wear foot thongs, but must have proper shoes to suit costume if needed
  • Fitted dance clothes
  • Hair neatly off face

REGISTER

MUSICAL THEATRE

All classes are once a week and 1 hour in length, combining instruction in basic dance and vocal dsc_0115technique. From September to December, recital classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to June class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. Competition classes will attend three competitions in the spring.

These classes are involved in the annual recording session, pictures and the year-end recital.

All classes are once a week. Recital classes are 45 minutes in length and competitive classes are 1 hour to 1.5 hours in length. These classes focus on basic tap technique and terminology. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to May class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year- end recital. These classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital. Competitive classes will attend three competitions in the spring season.

  • Intermediate and Senior Competition Tap – Black Slip-on Tap Shoes (Competitive students may need beige shoes too depending on costuming)

EXAMS

Our studio is pleased to offer CDTA exam instruction in Tap, Jazz and Ballet from Preliminary to Advanced.  Our 2016-2017 season currently includes exam classes for Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, Elementary and Advanced.
